Linda, Your Hungry Host
“I am not a glutton – I am an explorer of food.”
- Erma Bombeck
I come from a culture of food – where sharing a meal makes you friends, and cooking together makes you family. And I love cooking; mostly because I love to eat and share food experiences with friends, family and even strangers!
Thanks to my mother, father and grandmother, I’ve gathered quite the treasure trove of family recipes. And thanks to the advent of the internet, I’ve been able to gather even more! I’m always on the hunt for an interesting recipe.
A modern-day nomad, I move across country and ocean with Jay, my military husband. We’re both travel addicts and self-proclaimed foodies, and we love learning about other cultures and international cuisine. Born to Filipino parents in the USA and raised in Canada, I now live in the United Kingdom with my husband and son.
By day, I’m an ESOL teacher – but I’m also a full-time day dreamer with a passion for all things food and travel.
About This Blog
Sugar and spice
And everything…with rice?
I grew up in a family where a meal’s not a meal if there isn’t rice on the table. So, as you might have already guessed, lots of my recipes will go very well with rice – and will be inspired by Filipino and other Asian cuisines. But that’s not the limit of my passions. In trying to find something for all our guests, I’ve tried to learn how to bake, make roasts, cook pasta…and more. And since the birth of my son, I’ve also discovered many a quick and easy recipe to fill our bellies in the few odd minutes when our hands are free. I hope to chronicle my kitchen adventures here. I hope you’ll find my recipes useful.
Just as good recipes are important to hosting, so are good menus. And sometimes planning the menu is harder than the actual cooking! Jay and I have hosted many parties: small, casual affairs; eight-course, sit down meals (with so many plates to wash afterward); and large buffet parties for between fifteen to sixty-five guests. Eventually, I’ll be cataloging my menus here along with the recipes.
As a bona fide food tourist, I want to share our travel experiences when I can. And as a new mother, I’d also like to share my thoughts on baby gear and food.
The best way to get to know someone is to share food with them – so, please accept my invitation as your (almost always) hungry host!

No way! No wonder you’ve abandoned us in fanfiction.net: you have found another lover!!! Food!!! Whoever can compete with that is just pure genius…. *sobs*
Kidding aside, your website is just as perfect as your writing. It looks very professional, sophisticated, and very dynamic! I hope you make money out of it by getting sponsors to advertise it on your site. Just food for thought.
Best of luck to you and your family. Again, please update more at fanfiction.net.
God bless!!
